Event Details

We invite all members to join us on Wednesday 5th March, 2:00pm โ€“ 3:00pm AEDT for an information session about the national health and medical research agenda, including the National One Stop Shop and the Quality Standards and Accreditation Scheme for HRECs and their Host Institutions.

The Department of Health and Aged Care, in collaboration with all state and territory governments via the Inter-Governmental Policy Reform Group (IGPRG), is leading a body of work to strengthen and reform the operating environment for health and medical research.

The development of Quality Standards and an Accreditation Scheme for Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs) and their Host Institutions aims to enhance the consistency and efficiency of ethics review, and to build reciprocal confidence in HREC approvals.

These and other reforms, such as the National One Stop Shop, will continue to build Australia's capacity across the research pipeline and place health and medical research, including clinical trials, at the forefront of a sector-wide research investment and innovation drive.

National public consultations on the Draft Quality Standards for HRECs and their Host Institutions, and the proposed models for an Accreditation Scheme will be held from 3 March โ€“ 17 April 2025.
