Decades of obesity research is not being translated into healthcare in Australia. Obesity patient pathways and both consumer and provider awareness of evidence-based practice are lacking in primary care nationally.
As the national peak body for health and medical research, Research Australia is pleased to be working alongside Novo Nordisk on a project to translate research into practice, generating an understanding of the use of current obesity research within an evidence-based practice context for primary care and community management of obesity.
Building on previous work looking at Australia's strengths in obesity research and priority areas for further investment, this project will create evidence-based resources that will highlight gaps, opportunities and options and facilitate discussion of evidence-based obesity care from system, provider and consumer perspectives.
To ensure this project is grounded in expertise and able to produce meaningful and actionable recommendations, we are hosting a targeted roundtable discussion. In this workshop we will discuss findings of background review and build consensus on opportunities and potential recommendations to advance evidence-based approaches to obesity in Australia.
Through the collective expertise and insights of leaders we can drive reform and support the implementation of evidence in practice.
This workshop will be delivered virtually via MS Teams.
