The ten-year Western Australia Health and Medical Research Strategy 2023 – 33 sets a bold agenda for change, and one for which many of the necessary pieces are falling into place.

As the national peak body for health and medical research, Research Australia is pleased to be working alongside the Western Australian Government to support the implementation of the Western Australian Health and Medical Research Strategy by investigating health and medical research capacity, strengths and opportunities in WA.

As part of this work, we have conducted a review of research funding, activity and outputs, and a brief survey of Western Australian researchers' experiences of research funding and existing strengths in the research focus areas, partnership opportunities, the areas of research where there are gaps in funding and the opportunities to leverage existing expertise to cement WA's position as a leader in health and medical research.

This 90 minute consultation workshop will share our findings to date and seek your views on emerging themes, as well as ideas on current areas of gaps, strengths and opportunities for WA Health and Medical Research. An agenda will be provided closer to the date.
